~Kiwi & Geco~

Three of our pets are of the reptile persuasion... Kiwi is an eight year old iguana, and Geco is an eight year old leopard gecko. We don't own them, they are part of our family (big difference!). Both are extremely healthy and happy - they've told me so! :) Here's some pictures of each of them:

~Spunky~

Spunky is our third reptile, and a special story. We rescued him from a sorry state of affairs and intended to find him another home when he was healthy again, but he ended up finding his home with us!

He started out thin and sickly when we rescued him...

Then he recovered from the skin rot and gained a little weight...

Then he got comfortable enough to sleep in weird positions...

Reptile Links

Below are some links that will give you information for keeping your own lizards. :) I've personally surfed these sites (even the ones without comments) and found them to have good info. My list is small because I don't list just anyone... I check them out. :)

Should I get an iguana?
So you think you want a reptile?
If you are making the decision of whether or not to buy an iguana for the first time... PLEASE READ THESE TWO PAGES! It will give you a great clue on what owning one entails and help you make a well-informed decision. :)

Reptiles Are Not "Things"
Make sure you agree with this article too before purchasing your new pet.

~~Fun Links~~

Squint the Iguana LIVE! Webcam
Check out this beautiful iguana as he poses for the camera! (Recommended only if you have DSL or Cable Modem access... regular dial up modems may be too slow.)

The Bad Iguana List
A must read for all iguana owners... be prepared though, your smile muscles will hurt from laughing so much! :)

Iguana Land
Great message board and forum for iguana owners... lots of helpful people and fantastic ig pics here. :) Come over and make a post!

Iguana Mailing List
The Iguana Mailing List is another great place to talk to other ig owners.

~~Informational Links~~

Iguana Den
Kevin Egan's wealth of information from his experience with over 500 iguana rescues.

Melissa Kaplan's Reptile Site
Frames version... information on virtually every kind of reptile you could ever think of.

Melissa Kaplan's Giant Green Iguana Care
No frames version... a good place to start exploring her site if you own an iguana specifically or if your browser can't do frames.

NIAD - National Iguana Awareness Day
Millions of iguanas die every year because people buy them without realizing how much care and space they require. NIAD is an organization making a difference by educating people about iguanas BEFORE they buy them.

~~Cages & Supplies~~

J. Worlds Rainforest Enclosures
The most amazing cages for your herps that I've ever seen... of course, I'm sure they come with an amazing price, but it's probably worth it... for goodness sakes, they actually FLUSH!

Custom Cages
The most recommended cages at Iguana Land... I haven't purchased anything from them, but I sure wish I had!

Lizard Cages.com
These enclosures are a little more expensive, but they're easily snapped together and I like that they're plastic so you can clean them thoroughly. Here's another link to the same guy... he describes all he went through to get to his current cage design here: http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Breakers/7541/buildcage.html

Grubco
Healthy reptile food that arrives alive... they also have a great variety.

Big Apple Herp Reptile Supplies
I haven't ordered from them personally YET, but they appear to be a GREAT place to order ALL your reptile supplies! They have EVERYTHING.
